I'll demonstrate some techniques here.
This is the page I'll use to showcase techniques for formatting your posts using WikiMarkup.
Basic Editing
I recommend
this page at ScrewTurnWiki for information on WikiMarkup techniques. Concepts are explained there, but there aren't very many actual examples. It might be enough to get you started, though.
An image that acts as a link to another image
Sometimes you have a very large image you want to share, but you don't want to have that large image shown on the page you're using to explain it. In these cases, you'd use an image that links to a larger image. Wikipedia uses this technique for many of their maps.
You could also have an image link to a webpage, for example, you might want to link a website that had more information on an image you were posting, or perhaps another page in the wiki. This could be a bit trickier than just linking to another image.
Use the file manager from the Home page to upload your images. Use helpful titles like MyImageSmall.jpg and MyImageLarge.jpg. Once they're uploaded you will be able to see them when you use the image tool on the toolbar of the edit screen.
The format for the tag is:
This will create a picture without a border that links to another image or web page.
This is a thumbnail that links to a larger image. |
Don't forget your closing bracket. ;-)
This image was created with this markup tag:
[imageauto|This is a thumbnail that links to a larger image.|{UP}/athens_small.jpg|^{UP}/athens_large.jpg]
